    MAGIC Vegas Apparel Trade Show

It’s mid August and the MAGIC tradeshow is underway for showcasing Spring/Summer 2011 collections! MAGIC houses booths of mainly mainstream brands like Diesel, Levi’s, French Connection, whereas its other smaller shows feature more niche categories like contemporary (Project), street, skate & surf (S.L.A.T.E.), menswear, footwear etc. The vast tradeshow spans over 3 days, thousands of very elaborate booths, and is THE place to source for new brands, launch a new brand, suss out new trends, unveil new collections and network/party with your suppliers, buyers, and friends. Of course, it’s also the chance for brands to sell their line to a host of international and US buyers. The energy is great; lots…

Fashion shows: Audi Fashion Festival, Blueprint & Tokyo Girls Collection

Managed to catch the Mango show at the Audi Fashion Festival as my friend C got tickets to the show. Also attended the Blueprint trade show at the F1 pit building, which was pretty impressive. I did not expect that many labels to be there, and the overall quality of the show was up there. Hopefully, they will be able to get more South East Asian designers to participate in the future shows. However, what really struck me about the Mango fashion show was the scene in the Mango store after the fashion show. There were many customers who were so excited by the clothing they had seen in the…

    Blueprint Singapore 2010

Another event that I’m looking forward to is the Blueprint fashion trade show that showcases many local and international fashion labels such as Al & Alicia, Vice & Vanity, Greyhound, Yeojin Bae & KTZ. Taking place from 29 April – 1 May, the show will not only be for fashion buyers and other industry members, but will also be opened up to the public for a limited shopping event on the last day. The list of mainly local labels looks very promising, and I am pretty sure the shopping event will be full of fashion, music & tsk tsk, one or two of those “exclusive” fashion parties… Click here for…

    Audi Fashion Festival

The Audi Fashion Festival 2010 in Singapore is coming up! 28 April – 2 May 2010 at the Tent@Orchard. Anchored by heavyweights such as DSquared & Roberto Cavalli who are coming here for the first time, it promises to be a week of high end glamour & fashion. I’m kind of disappointed that there is only 1 local label alldressedup that is showing, but on the line there is also the Samsung Designer Showcase that possibly has other local designers lined up, although there are no details yet. Head to Audi Fashion Festival for the schedule & more details.

    Sundays at Haji Lane

Lazy, rainy Sundays… My friend was in town that day & we headed to Arab St/Haji Lane to walk around. It’s one of the areas in Singapore that has some sense of character, color, & individuality that I like. Past all the nasi padang stalls, shisha cafes & quaint little shops, there were other vibrant colors & textures that I wanted to capture. Most of the shops were closed, but we chanced upon an ad hoc flea market that was being held on the street. Selling everything from handmade fabric animals to vintage clothes, it was nice to see a youthful, bustling environment. Click here to join their Facebook group.…
