One of our favourite women’s clothing brands of the moment – Spell & the Gypsy Collective

Amassing almost 1 million followers on Instagram, Spell & the Gypsy Collective has grown from a local Byron Bay brand to an international cult favourite on social media, known for its festival and resort bohemian-inspired clothing. The two sisters Isabella and Elizabeth Briedis started off selling jewellery at the local markets about a decade ago, and since then the brand has evolved into a complete lifestyle brand for the boho-inspired style, with spinoffs into bridal wear and children’s clothes, and is stocked at the top US e-commerce site likes Free People, Shopbop and Revolve. We take a deeper look into why we’re so obsessed with this brand lately:

Our Guide to Some of the Best Online Fashion Shopping Sites 2018

What can we say? We love shopping! Best of all, if it’s online shopping because of the convenience, the variety and sometimes the price, all in the comfort in our PJs. When we were still working full-time, we actually set aside a personal monthly clothing allowance just for online shopping, and explored several of the following e-commerce sites. We’ve decided to compile a list of sites that include some of the best online fashion shopping sites that we’ve come across.

I must confess I really don’t like commercialised Valentine’s Day celebrations & what V Day has come to be. I’ve never been a big fan of embarrassing bouquets, pink and expensive set menus. And I believe that a girl shouldn’t have to try too hard (or really, anyone shouldn’t). So for the outfits I picked, it’s all about looking sensual without trying to hard, no crazy bright red dresses, no fancy makeup, no “look at me” attitude. But even with these easy looks & your effortless charm, he’ll still see you as the lady he wants to seduce.   Slipdresses & innerwear as outerwear are all the rage these days,…

You can tell a Proenza Schouler design by its modern take on prints, textures and colours. This collection was no different. I loved that it became a ‘random’ mix of everything and still everything ties in so well. Loved the use of the digital print dresses at the end with the grommet details. The PS girl is always cool & modern.         Shop Proenza Schouler Ready to Wear here.

Wow.. a barrage of fashion events happening locally this week! First up, my ex-schoolmate runs an online store called Social is having a fashion show & pop-up store at Lucky13 tonight. Selling brands from SoCal (southern California) and other countries, the aesthetic is decidedly bright & peppy. Not unlike the brilliant weather that California gets year round. http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/341748029242731/ Then, this session of MAAD is running a collaboration with 20byTWO, as a Singapore & Malaysia fashion exchange during this round of their monthly bazaar/flea market. It features 10 local brands like Al&Alicia and Amen, as well as 10 Malaysian brands for a pop-up store, curated by Tongue in Chic & Fashionspace. 7…

It’s been a busy few months. We were at the STClassifieds’ Fashion & IT Showcase in July. Then this weekend, we are off to the Public Garden market event at the MICA building on Hill Street on Saturday & Sunday (17 & 18 August).   Finally we are holding a fun lunchtime CBD shopping event at Mono+ Emporium at International Plaza #02-27 on 24 August 12noon – 2pm. Woohoo! Another lovely pop-up shop in London for OC, just in time for the London Olympics of course! That’s pretty much where they got their name, you know. Ie. opening ceremonies for the Olympics, how the Olympics merges sports, business & global participation etc.  Anyways, as always, love their style & concept. And they have plenty of limited edition OC collabs with designers like Chloe Sevigny, Boy by Band of Outsiders, Adidas Originals etc. Love Love!

Still a great trend from Spring – Metallics are here to stay! Oh I do hope so. They’ve become the new neutral tones, where it’s okay to wear them in the day, paired with some tailored pants or pleated shorts. Anything with a touch of bling is always a great classic piece to me. Just keep it simple & preferably in 1 tone per outfit!
